You’re engaged and it feels incredible!!!!

You now probably have a thousand things running through your mind and your Pinterest updated and you’re ready to plan the adventure of a lifetime! You get to go dress shopping, design centre pieces and all the other exciting things that some have dreamed of for years and others are just thinking about AND THATS OK! It’s going to be incredible.

One thing that I want you to always keep in mind throughout this whole process… Stay true to yourselves! It is so so sooo important.

If you want an adventurous elopement to the top of a mountain or a destination wedding, make it happen. It will truly have the biggest impact in how this entire process goes for you. There are lots of things to consider but here are a few things to think about to make it everything you want it to be.

  • If you want to elope but your family want a large celebration, consider doing a small elopement ceremony one day and a large celebration with vows another day
  • If you want a destination wedding but the funds aren’t there, consider a small destination elopement and a large celebration when you get home
  • Everyone will have a value opinion, some helpful and some not so helpful. This can be very tricky to navigate depending on who’s opinion it is. Always remember that no matter who they are and what you do, there’s always going to be comments. Staying true to what you truly want will make the day incredible for you and your man. I’m not saying don’t make small adjustments but think carefully about things.

This helicopter engagement session at the top of Golden Ears, BC has sparked this post because it is the perfect representation of staying true to you. He planned this entire day and surprised his bride with the adventure on the morning of our photo session. He wanted unique, fun and WILD!

He brought his change of clothes with us and we hopped in a helicopter and took an incredible flight to the stunning mountain tops surrounding he lower mainland of BC. Landing on the top of a snow covered peek was so exhilarating and exciting. Gaaaah such an incredible afternoon of love and laughter, goofiness and playful and truly capturing what they had envisioned.

Sometimes a memory is just so beautiful, it deserves a replay. This one is for Janelle and Austin, who flew all the way up from California to celebrate their One Year Anniversary with a mountain adventure right here at Alouette Lake!

Why These Moments Are Timeless
This is the beauty of choosing intentionality and experience in your marriage. It wasn't just about taking pictures; it was about honoring the start of their legacy by creating a new, unforgettable milestone. The misty, quiet B.C. mountains were the perfect backdrop for their connection—a reminder that their love story is bigger than any single location.

Are you holding off on creating beautiful experiences because of distance or logistics? Don't wait! Investing in moments like this is investing directly into the core of your relationship. These images become your heirlooms, your proof that you chose adventure together, no matter the journey.

Thank you, Janelle and Austin, for letting me be part of this incredible chapter. Your decision to chase those B.C. views remains one of my favorite memories of intentional love!

Can we talk about the heirloom pieces? 👇

The Real Story Behind the "Stuff"
For my couples, the details aren't just for show. They're tangible links to the past, little moments of legacy you can feel. I'm talking about:

The delicate heirloom jewelry—maybe worn by your grandmother or great-aunt—that makes you feel wrapped in generations of love. (A moment to pause, breathe, and connect.)

The family Bible, passed down for decades, signed on your wedding day—a reminder that your story is part of something much bigger.

Pain Point: Are you worried these meaningful details will be rushed or missed in the whirlwind? I promise you, they won't be.

My Promise to You
As your photographer, I don't just snap a picture of these items. I treat them with the reverence they deserve, knowing they represent your history and the start of your new legacy. I believe in capturing that quiet, timeless moment—the soft light on your rings, the gentle fold of a treasured page.

This is where your memories become more than just fleeting moments; they become heartfelt, tangible heirlooms for your own children someday.
