Dorothy + Marcus // Helicopter Engagement

March 12, 2020
Engagement  ·  Featured  ·  Photography

Normally I speak endlessly with my brides to plan their engagement session but this one was a little (a lot different) but FREAKING AMAZING!!

The one thing Marcus wanted was to plan this epic engagement photoshoot for his bride to be. Being a musician he wanted to creating some unique artwork with these photos that spoke to their personalities. We spent hours chatting about the best plan, ideas brainstormed from evening wear in a junk yard, to something on a Vancouver movie set and without seeing the photos already, you’ll never guess what the end result was. It was OUT OF THIS WORLD! He wanted unique, he wanted contrast, we created it.

Lets take a step back and let me tell you about how these two got engaged…

They had some time on their hands one afternoon and stumbled across mini golfing, not that they ever golf but they figured why not. So out of their norm, they ended up creating a wager for who won. The final wager went like this, if she won he had to propose but he wanted to know what he got if he won, so Dorothy threw out there that if he won, SHE would propose.

Not that either of them had much in the way of golfing skills lol they were both on a mission!

Turns out, Marcus won the round of golf. Glowing in his win, he bent down to pick up his golf ball, stood up and there was Dorothy down on one knee asking him to marry him!!! GAAAAHHH does it get any better than that?!?!?!

Without farther ado, check out what we created. Beautiful, unique and 10000% them…

We took a helicopter to the mountain tops around Vancouver, BC. We explored the snow covered mountain tops and rolled in the snow besides the glacial lakes. It was such an epic engagement, I want wait to capture their wedding photography in Squamish, BC this coming summer!!!

We often tell ourselves we will take the photos when life slows down or when things are easier. But what if you embraced exactly where you are right now? Even if things feel messy or uncertain there is beauty in the transition.

A solo portrait session is a chance to stand still for a moment and honour the season you are navigating. You are stronger and more radiant than you give yourself credit for.
