What’s the true value of a wedding and elopement photographer?

August 20, 2020

Have you ever questioned what the value of a wedding or elopement photographer is?

What makes one wedding photographer worth hiring over another?

Let’s be honest for a minute, we all know that any one of us can take a pretty picture. I’m sure your mom knows how to take a picture, heck, my toddler knows how to press the button too. However, does that make them a valued photographer or their pictures of quality? Nope! Just like being able to put a paint brush to a canvas and it doesn’t make you a valued artist, pressing the shutter button does not make you a photographer.

So, what makes a great wedding, elopement or family photographer? What gives us value?

It’s the power of a moment remembered forever, the passion we put into every single photo we ever take. It’s the details of our art that we’ve spent years fine tuning, the endless hours of education that creates not just a pretty picture but a great image. It’s also the quality of equipment that most days we don’t want to admit the value of to anyone (including ourselves).

We have fine tuned our art to a point that even the first photo we take of you has taken hours upon hours to perfect, whether its through education, hard work to earn the equipment we use or the time we’ve spent investing in building an amazing connection with you BEFORE we even meet face to face.

When it comes to weddings and elopements, we become friends. This is not only because I love every one of my couples and can’t wait to experience your day along side you, but getting to know you allows me to know what will make you confortable in front of the camera, how to encourage and guide you and what will have you feeling uncomfortable. There are so many steps coming up to your wedding or elopement and I walk you through so much of it with the experience gained from the years behind my camera. All of this guidance will create something so much more incredible in every single image taken.

We compose every image, we balance the light, we fine tune our settings based on the experience we have and we know how to create your true emotions that truly showcase you and your loved ones in such a pure and natural way that you stop thinking about being in front of the camera and are just thinking about being in the moment.

The value of a great wedding photographer is what you feel when you look through your photos, when your gallery is delivered and again in years to come when you get to re-live those moments and remember all the details.

This is the true value of a great photographer opposed to anyone being capable of pressing the shutter.

No cameras, no expectations—just a quiet moment to breathe it all in.

Sarah and David did exactly that. They slipped away from the bustle, stood hand in hand overlooking their ceremony site, and let the day sink in. The view, the calm, the love—it was everything.

Because sometimes the best part of your wedding isn’t the big celebration, it’s the quiet space in between where you realize... this is your forever.

Sam and Dino brought the perfect mix of romance and connection to this mountain-side session—proof that bridal portraits don’t have to be just about the dress, but about the story, the connection, and the moments in between.
